This cigar holder/divot tool is made from Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun), a true ebony species native to Southeast Asia, with a specific gravity of about .9 (for comparison Red Oak has a specific gravity of .56). This wood is noted for its variegated coloration patterns ranging from light caramel to black. The wood is not quite in the ironwood class but it's still very hard and dense.
An interesting note for golfers is that a North American member of the Diospyros family is the American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana), the traditional wood that "woods" were made of before the advent of metal and carbon fiber club heads. With a specific gravity of about .79 it's not in the ironwood class but its interlocking grain structure combined with its uncommon hardness made for a virtually indestructible club head with the unique ability to efficiently transfer potential energy to a golf ball.....that is, when properly swung.
This divot tool is approximately 2-3/4"long X 3/4"wide X 3/8"thick.
